Map Name: Delivery to Hidden Base
Author: CarThief
Released: 9th August 2008
Rating: 89

Review by MetHunter on 27th August 2008

Delivery to Hidden Base is Carthief's first public release - and it's very promising for the future of this new mapper.
It's a high-tech map in which you are literally "sent" to clean some alien base located into the moutains, and it's pretty long, it should take you almost 30 minutes. However you will spend some time wandering around to find where to go or what to do next...
Design is good looking and detailed, with heavy trimwork, especially a few areas stand out from the rest of the map. However most of the map is too cramped, and too repetitive (the few outdoor areas actually feel very fresh because of that), shading could have been done better as well.
Gameplay is a bit different from what you're used to experience in most Duke3D releases, the author set a few unexpected traps and you'll also find yourself fighting tough monsters in small areas, however nothing is impossible and it's actually good for a change. Be sure to save often and to look around for every ammo and health items you can find.

Overall it's a long, good looking and challenging high-tech map which suffers from crampedness and repetitiveness, but which still plays very well.

the usual stuff. But anyway, the aliens decide to order some of earth's finest
services, wine, alcohol and porn, and what not. EDF noticed the order, seen
evidence of alien control and sends duke along with the order, yet the aliens
are too lazy to drag in their order, so Duke will have to go trough an
alternative entrance, nearby.

Additional Credits To : Nothing specific to name, but many maps inspired me.
Edit: The people on the DNR forum for some idea's, and support in development.
As well as pushing me to make shading updates. And helping with some needed things.
Just bear with me as this map costed me a damn load of time to update!
Now enjoy it with less complaining. :P

Construction Time : Uhh... around 6-7 weeks?
Known Bugs/Problems :
-Doors may crush you if you ram into them, more carefully and not careless.

-Before the end, when something spawns in the long hallway, the floor might somehow
go up a bit,
but move around on it and it might also go down, nothing big.

-The map might crash, but rarely happened to me. Though i ran it in JFDuke. Should be
fine in EDuke.

*Important Information*

Installation : Seems obvious, put in folder, and run duke!

Important Notes : My first officially released map! Difficulty can vary,
but on its toughest most experienced Duke fans should be able to handle it easily,
somewhat.
Or it was atleast easy for me, but i know each part of the map. :P
The map takes about 23-30 minutes to finish, if you like to stroll around a bit
slowly.

Oh, i made a interesting Co Op start too, as Co Op is in my view quite
enjoyable, especially if you let your friend run into your traps! Hehe...
