Following what I said in the "What are you working on?" thread, I decided to spend an hour in Mapedit today;

I don't know if this will evolve into anything more than what it is, save fixing textures and shading, but it looks like I haven't forgotten how to get a bit out of the RoR features... Now I just have to try and remember how to make it work on walls.

If it becomes anything, it'll be a generic map, there'd be some stuff to do in the forest, then you'd proceed over that bridge to some kind of base... Maybe have it so you have to throw switches in the forest that make pieces of the bridge move into place and then go over to blow the base up (via a reactor of sorts perhaps...) and fight a boss, probably with some interactive torture machines thrown in, I like making those.

Looks like you're good on the way to something.

;D
Bitter words mean little to me. Autumn winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time, when they asked me if I knew you
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine, and the sadness would be lifted from my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise

Funny, I also worked on a Blood map a while back but some frustrating bug pissed me off so I haven't touched it since.

If you ever finish it make sure you post it here. I love me some Blood occasionally... nah, rather, frequently.

High Treason

Hmm, not sure this really needed it's own thread, but worst case scenario, I'll occasionally post in here and bore everyone to death with my ramblings.

As I said, no idea if I will finish this, but it looks like I'll be away from my worstation for a few days again - maybe longer (meaning my Mapster32 stuff is out of the question due to laptop limitations) so I'll probably be stuck with Mapedit for my Build fix.

If I do ever finish this (though it is not on my priorities list to do so) I will certainly post it here. I actually did throw a couple of maps out there years ago, though I don't know if they ever got hosted by the site I sent them to, they were rather crap anyway.

I've spent some time today tweaking the bridge and surrounding area as well as trying to set up a combination switch (which was mostly successful and has an interesting bi-product I can use) so I am at least getting back into the editor, surprised how much I remember really, especially with the rough location of sounds (In some ways, the system there is good in that you can play the sound whilst working on the sprite, but there is no list of sounds that I am aware of, unlike how you can use User.con with Duke).

@Loke; Shame to hear you stopped working on one, I've never looked up many Blood maps, but I'm willing to bet there aren't as many out there as there are Duke maps.

I didn't come too far with it honestly so it's not like it was a particularly big waste (I still have it on my HDD if I'd ever go back to it of course), though it's still a bit of a bummer since I've always wanted to make maps for Blood but the rather convoluted, archaic design of MAPEDIT made it a bit of a chore to work with honestly. Even Mapster32 can really test my patience sometimes.

Yeah, I doubt that as well. It's a bit of a shame but we still got excellent mod releases such as Death Wish which rather surprised me at how bloody good it was.

Some years ago I collected as many Blood maps as I could find at the time (as well as Redneck) and had TX host them, though I'm sure there's some missing. You can find them all on Dukeworld here; http://dukeworld.duke4.net/2001-current/buildgames/

You're not the only one who is interested with mapedit and blood, but if you want I can make a topic just for build games so it covers them all and I'll move this thread to it..

I wish I could enjoy these projects; unfortunately years ago during a move from Kansas to Hawaii a box of computer stuff was lost in shipping. It contained a portion of my software which included most of my games so I lost Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Redneck Rampage, ROTT, all my Duke backup material w/maps & TCs, and several other games/backup discs (all the Doom discs, Wolfenstein, etc.). Luckily my Duke Atomic disc was actually in the computer cd drive. I think this is the only build game I still have.
Take it down to the beach with a hammer and pound sand up your ass

Sorry for OT, but OMG what a shocking story!! :o It's terrible!

Yeah that must suck big time!  :-[

@High Treason, that looks very nice considering you used ROR and not TROR to build it. I admit that TROR kind of takes the magic out of it.
Wall whore.

Luckily all your porno was in that other box you carried with you in the bus.
