Gonna check out Duke Hard once I've caught up on a Doom mod review.
there's alot of levels, but several of them are pretty short (5 to 10 minutes depending on how fast you go). multiple styles, so if one doesn't suit your taste the next one might. Quite interesting to see what people came up with using the same base map template.

Just played this and had to comment; instant favourite! I've already written a review which will be uploaded once I begin updating my site regularly again (Very soon!). Keep your eyes on the 'last played' thread. Gonna check out Duke Hard once I've caught up on a Doom mod review.

Yep. It's become one of my favourite map ever, I hope you played the updated version (the one uploaded on this site is outdated and much worse than the last version), I guess it helped that the map was great to begin with and that the mapper changed it according to my negative comments so now it's even more to my liking. I even made a playthrough video on youtube.
The updated version is vanilla compatible, too, which fits this kind of maps really well.

Doesn't that make things confusing! Yes I grabbed it here... I'm guessing the latest version is attached to the first post on Duke4.net forums? I'll probably check it out again later, thanks for the heads up.

Yes and it's on Steam's workshop as well. MSDN's version is outdated too.

Edit : also if you play Duke Hard don't use the latest EDuke32 (r4593), there is a glitch that makes the episode stops at map07. I know r4525 works, I don't know if those in between do or not.

Woa..today they started to install fiber-optic cable for tv and internet in my apartment building.
Next week I'll have a 20/20 Mbps connection.
It's more than enough for me anyway.

can't believe that i just added a few new rooms to a map i have been sitting on for a while today... my schedule is busier than ever but i find myself able to make some time for mapster somehow. hopefully i can pull something playable off before i have to leave my hometown again...

also i had yet another duke dream the other night... where i was playing / making a new map, a short one, space-themed. all the layout and progression stayed with me when i woke up, to the point where i could probably recreate it if i tried - it was fairly minimalistic... and for some reason i was under the (surprisingly strong) impression that i had already dreamed of the very same map before... maybe there is a little hard drive somewhere in my brain where all those maps i dream of actually exist, if i keep going back to them in my dreams like that, and they never change. fancy

I've had the occasional dream of Duke map creation.

There was this one dream where everything was so detailed and conceptually grand, so I took out my iPhone and took some pictures on the reasoning that when I woke up, I'll be able to recreate it from the photos.

except those are harder to release than normal ones for some odd reason

Btw when you have your dreams are you looking at the map on a computer screen? Because I'm actually IN the map  :o

haha that is true, never really gave it a second thought but i am actually in the map as well (it doesn't feel like my body is though). it's like i am playing, or watching a playthrough video, but there is no screen involved

Finished working on a small Doom 2 map for a community project I started recently. Still need to improve gameplay based off feedback though, but so far I'm happy with the results. I'll post up more details once the entire project has an official release. ;D
