Couldn't help starting this good ol' thread.  8)

Right now when I'm building this forums I listen to Evergrey - A Touch of blessing
Buried under dirt, a diamond in the mud
Infinity is waiting there 'cause nobody can burn a glass cathedral

Sounds nice! Some guitar tunes there....
And welcome aboard, Merlijn  :)

You could make your own topic for your band?

Have of course cast my vote.

Thanks guys! I'll make a band topic soon enough.
I think the best comparison I've heard thus far was "you guys kinda sound like Pink Floyd meets Metallica!" Heh, it's not that far from the thruth I guess.  :P

I like metallica meets deep purple better. Your band has a distinct folk style to it which is more like early deep purple rather than the psychedelic style of pink floyd (though the guitar playing is across a wide range of styles and could be comparable to Gilmore's depth, the meat of the band still "Heavy Folk Metal" - lol -coin that phrase on your next album)

Lol, nice one. You're right about the folky influences, but then again there are also some really pshychedelic parts. Metallica meets Deep purple sounds good though.  8)

On a related note: even latter day Deep Purple is really good, this song is from 1996 and it's bloody brilliant:

Very good song. I never understand why some songs/bands never get the recognition & air play they deserve.

When I hear calculated these are some of the songs I think of.

Deep Purple - Hush
Deep Purple - Mandrake Root

I've been lucky enough to have seen Deep Purple live three times  8)

I'm jealous as well! I've never seen them live and even if they still perform on stage, it's not the same without John Lord (although Steve Morse is almost as kick-ass as Richie Blackmore).

To sum it up: you lucky bastard! ;)

Deep Purple was supposed to come through Spokane, Washington in '85-86, but cancelled. I turned my tickets in for Blue Oyster Cult and seen them instead

Ah---now it's my time to become jealous.
Blue Oyster Cult is in my hall of fame  8)
