^ flickering red light sectors on strip

^ ceiling in room with force field/switch for door to the large open beach

^ Large red door in underground section

QuoteI also wish there was a way we could force the player to stay on the Dam top  :(

You could try triggering some type of door here to stop the backtracking, I blew the spaceship and ran back immediately, jumping off the stairs.

Those are some nice catches on the textures, although I'm not sure whether the door was an intentional choice by supertanker.

I guess I could have a section at the Dam that sort of raises up at the end. I hope the player won't think it's too unnatural or anything.

How about a coop game in approximately 14 hours? It should play faster than in singleplayer.

Btw nobody make any changes, I found some other misalligned textures as well, pretty bad ones.

So to be clear, I replayed the boss fight from on top like I was supposed to, and it is really good. Definitely not too many enemies spawned. Like forge said just enough to be a distraction and make you keep moving.

And yes we will continue or co-op talk on steam, that sounds good for me.

underTaker

I would like to coop, but you saw previously, Micky - lags are too big with me.

yea. the map was pretty bad. i fixed so many of them it was hard to keep track and repair them all. i was bound to miss quite a few. sorry.

Here's the fixed map. Also added ambiant sounds to my section, and some details to the cars. I don't like the textures on the cars though, they're very finicky.

The only thing is I never found out where that area in Drek's 2nd pic is.
Btw I'm getting Lunick to test it out.

Cool. I'm going to play it soon, maybe today. I don't think it's needed anymore, but; you still want a beta report for the last uploaded version?
Boo!

That should be better for you, sorry it was a quick in game pic to remind me, then my criptic message wasn't much of a help. I swear I didn't not do it to fuck with you.

If you're going to play it anyway then sure, a report would be useful  :)

Edit: Btw I think I already fixed that misalignment in Drek's post seperately  :P

Lunick couldn't think of anything to change after playing on Come Get Some, which is good. Maybe CGS is too easy?  ???

There are some points I'd like to discuss with the group:
1) The crack I added to the wooden wall next to the crack on the lift, should I make it multiplayer only, or should I just link it to the lift's crack since it's so close?
2) We should replace the transparent floor aligned fence tile 913 used as shadows with tile 4429. It looks identical but it stays transparent in-game. The problem is it's offset seems off, so we'd have to adjust that manually.
3) I think we should change the sky colour. I've taken 4 screenshots, from sky shades 0,5,10,15 respectively. Keep in mind it will change the shades of a lot of sprites on the map. I think 5 looks nice.

I don't know how much quality are you willing to sacrifice to save filesize, so here's a pack containing files with different quality of the song, with average (96khz) and variable bit rate both on stereo and mono audio. I personally would go for 96khz or VBR at 20% on stereo, since they have low filesizes yet pretty descent audio.

EDIT: Wait about 5 minutes, rar is already uploading at the time of this post :P

Done.

Micky C

Thanks a lot Norvak, even if we can only shave off say 2mb that's a huge improvement.

Although I honestly can't tell any difference between the smallest filesize one and the biggest, despite one being more than twice the filesize of the other   :P

I don't think there's really anything specific holding this map back from release now? Of course please answer my questions I put forward in my last post. And maybe some people want to try it out in COOP? I was going to do it, but I've just been looking at this map so much, both in mapster and eduke, that I don't really want to spend another 40 minutes playing it...

Haven't seen/played this map but it sure looks good guys!  :)
There is essentially no difference between an infinitely large universe consisting only of photons and an infinitely small universe consisting only of photons. Therefore, a singularity for a Big Bang and an infinitely expanded universe are equivalent.

Also, I'm willing to do a co-op run anytime in the next hour if anyone reads this, or just talk to me before 2am and we can try to play-test it while the upside down people are sleeping. j/k Micky Auzziez rule!!!!!

Before anyone asks, we will use the latest upload. Put it in gameroot/maps.

Micky C

Ok, Undertaker's got the current version of the map. I aim to release it in a day or two. We'll probably just have it on the forums for a few days in case anything super major comes up that needs fixing, before we have it hosted at CGS. Although given an urge to just keep adding small details, I'll try to draw a line and show some self restraint after release.
