Been out of sorts lately, but congrats to Loke for being mapper of the month. Made some nicely detailed maps with realistic environments

The download link links to The Chronic by Sanek. I didn't think Sanek would get his Month so easily!

Thank you. methy  :)
I sincerely apologize to all involved.
After a major overhaul of this site, most of them behind the scenes, there will be some broken links and it's like....
I thought it would be better for you guys to enter this site as usual without meeting a "Site is down for maintenance" sign.....

I could have been misjudging it though.....oh well.
We're here for you, not the other way around  :D

just wanted to highlight that my interview on this site is finally up, puritan struggled to contact me because i had changed my email address in the meantime but after several months of it pending you can now check it out if you ever feel like reading something boring about a stranger you will probably never even get to meet ! :-*

I forgot about the interviews. I went over and read all of them... except yours  :P

WOW those are long answers. I'd definitely like to read it at some point, but only when I get a full spare half hour or so  :P

@Puritan. There should really be a question like "what advice would you give to other (maybe beginning) mappers?". You can't have interviews of the greatest mappers of all time and not let them share a touch of wisdom like that  ???

Since Loke is mapper of the month, I decided to also check out his work in games other than Duke3D.

I've played Computer Lab for Doom II : http://www.moddb.com/games/doom-ii/addons/computer-lab
Solid small map, nothing really add. Enjoyed it.

Facility for Half-Life : http://www.moddb.com/games/half-life/addons/facility
Difficulty is uneven : at the beginning of the map, I had to try 5 or 6 times to kill the 3 soldiers, and then the rest of the map was relatively easy.
However, I haven't played a HL map in quite a long time so I wasn't sure how to launch it. What I did was start a normal HL game then go into the console and type "map facilityfinal".
That put me into the map, however the maps ends when that vent breaks and you fall down into a dark pit and hear monster screams. Is this the real ending of the map or is there more that I missed because I did not launch the map the way it should be? That seemed quite short. Thanks.

Loke

No, you launched it correctly.

Okay, that was a cool small map then.

I also just played your Fortress of Resurrection for Quake. http://www.moddb.com/games/quake/addons/fortress-of-resurrection
That was short but really good. I love "square" architecture which is why I liked it so much. I think that was better than your Doom and HL maps. My only complain is that the end boss fight is a bit difficult.

Loke

Yeah, the Shambler fight can be a bit of a bitch especially since their primary attack is so strong. The design of the area is also a bit cramped which most likely add to the difficulty. Anyway, good that you enjoyed even though it was more or less just a map I made to get hang of the editor again before I started working on my Half-Life mod.

If you've got Doom 64 I also made a ultra-small pwad for the Doom64 EX program in case you're interested.

methy

Doom64 crashes when I try to play it...
