Besides their score  ;D , Maarten Pinxten's "MpRocket" and "Operation Kolpowitz" are identical. The latter has a more recent TXT.

I see. I knew that
Quote from: Puritan on  06 April 2019, 18:38:00Simply because 'Aa' is short for 'Å'
, but  not this
Quote from: Puritan on  06 April 2019, 18:38:00the 29'th letter in the alphabet. (some languages are short of three letters)
. I somehow assumed Å would be sorted like our Umlauts which do not constitute letters in their own right. Btw., äöüß would make our alphabet 30 letters ... I win  ;)

Site News & Feedback / Map Listings

I was about to report something else, but since it hasn't been fixed over the years: the map listing sorted by authors puts Aaro Ruohonen last instead of first.

The other thing: "New Duke City" and "Duke City Remastered" have conflicting author names. "Jesse McCree" appears to be a reference to a game character in Overwatch, and the "ling" has disappeared over time. "Duke City Remastered" doesn't show up in the "sorted by authors" list.

The download links for "Center for Disease Management" (disase.rar) by Reginukem seems to be broken. ZIP version available on https://dukeworld.com/2001-current/unsorted/.

Quote from: Captain Massive on  24 November 2014, 14:52:38Also how do I publish it, is there a place to upload it or someone to send it too?
Make a [Release] thread over at Duke4.net: http://forums.duke4.net/forum/29-user-maps-level-editing/
If you have no Steam account or simply won't bother with the Megaton Workshop, it's probably best to ask MetHy to upload it for you. (Well, if it's compatible, of course.)
And I think you should use a zipfile for release, with no subdirectory.

Quote from: Puritan on  21 October 2014, 17:48:31Today we reached 1000 maps bunged to our server.
Congrats and a big thank you to everyone involved.

Quote from: ck3D on  21 October 2014, 19:15:26i just so happen to be 95% done with the design of a map right now, with quite the spare time to devote to duke 3D this week... fingers crossed.
Great news as well. I hope you never get fed up with mapping.  :)

The download link of "Bob Deathmatch 1" by Bob Averill points to dukeprox.zip.

Quote from: Forge on  12 May 2014, 20:56:45I guarantee if the community is still alive for another ten years people will mention MRCK but won't have a clue who the hell Forge is.
Well, you know what you can do to avoid this ...  ;D

Quote from: ck3D on  12 May 2014, 14:07:38i personally celebrate each and every new release in 2014 the exact same way i was psyched on the releases of, say, red 5, alien planet x64-2, blackened or whatever was coming out back in the mid to late 2000's.
[...]
also i was just browsing through the hot maps listings on MSDN a minute ago and i couldn't help but contemplate how many masterpieces (technically and conceptually) people have been pumping out ever since the original release of the commercial game, using the same old engine and tweaking it in so many ways.
That's the essence of what I planned to reply when going to bed yesterday.
Sanek, don't take it too seriously. I'm looking forward to playing LORCH3 or whatever you're up to.

Good news:
Besides the mugshots, there are no more potential conflicts with the HRP. Your ART file set just fills some gaps within the original ART files otherwise. The attached ZIP contains an updated duke3d.def, just in case someone ever decides to make HRP models instead of textures for the mugshots.

Not so bad news:
Many DukePlus texture/model definitions conflict with tiles020.art. Instead of making a list for you I've decided to come up with a poor man's all around solution package (attached). You might want to add that to MARSBASE as well, I haven't checked if it has DukePlus related issues, too.
The academic solution would have been to convert tiles020.art to, say, tiles048.art, and then run a script on your maps that changes the internal tile numbers accordingly.

To do in favour of DukePlus players, if you please:
Several DukePlus models, including the-one-which-is-no-longer-shown-as-a-bulldozer, can be moved by nearby explosions. I don't know if it's a feature or a bug. However, the attached screenshots show the location were using explosives to open the grate would irreversibly block the way for DukePlus players. Please remove or replace those four lamps around the grate. (Using a tile number from 5264-5267 instead of 5268 might be sufficient, too.)

Quote from: Forge on  08 May 2014, 18:02:08I have at least four different versions of this map
the one hosted here
one dated 9/21/99
one dated 1/10/04
one dated 2/19/97
My version is dated 1997-02-03, the accompanying LIBRARY.TXT is 1997-02-19. Therefore I assume the last entry on your list being identical to mine (93690 byte). Robert Travis used to sign his maps, so LIBRARY.MAP is supposed made by a Sunstorm mapper who is not RT.

Quote from: reflex17 on  08 May 2014, 18:39:27I hope to post again soon with the updates.
There are more potential/future ART conflicts you might want to check. Please give me a day or two to prepare some hopefully useful information on that matter for you before uploading your maps.
Btw., in the MARSBASE package I recommend replacing the 2007 duke3d_hrp.def with the attached duke3d.def.

Quote from: Forge on  08 May 2014, 16:37:06someone like you who is actually a subject matter expert
If certain people knew what I do not know about subject matter, my HRP repository account might get deleted. ;D
It usually feels like I'm just one millimeter ahead of the guys I'm trying to support. 8)

The Library map reviewed here is a modified version of LIBRARY.MAP contained in Sunstorm Interactive's Duke Xtreme (same layout, pickups modified).

Quote from: Puritan on  08 May 2014, 15:09:07Oh and welcome aboard.
Hehe, these forums surely aren't the ideal place for an HRP apologist like me. ;D
But joining was the only option to contact reflex17 who is working on a project which I very much appreciate. I have a bad feeling that I'm about to stick my nose in yet one more cup of Duke3D-ish worms, but I can't help doing it. :P
