I could do that, but there's a lot of unfinished gameplay.. besides the map is about 75% done design-wise, so I - might - go back and finish it one of these days. ;) It would be a cool final present from me.. I just have very little spare time these days. :(

Hey Look, cool to see someone still playing my old red series! :) I've started a remake for red1 a few years ago, but never bothered to finish it.. It looked a lot better then the old red1 though.  :P

Yeah I was making some quick leaps in quality back then, mostly because I was shocked by the negative review Red1 got on MSDN haha.

That trick to make great looking canyons looks pretty damn cool! I've made so many outdoor maps and I never thought of doing it like that.. Good stuff.

Thanks a lot for your review Forge, I really enjoyed reading it!  :)

To reply to some of it (not that your opinion is invalid in any way, I just like discussing stuff!  ;D): I personally thought that dukeplus added a lot to many of the levels and allowed me to add a lot of stuff that would have been missing otherwise. Since you mention the ambience of level 5: I don't think I could have pulled that off without dukeplus..
The effects just aren't as in your face as some of the earlier dukeplus maps, a lot of the time I used them purely for ambience purposes (such as the blood/gore falling out of holes in the ceiling at triggered times). But those little things make all the difference to me, even when a lot of people wouldn't even recognize them as a dukeplus effect.

Most people didn't like the addition of the skycar and I can see why. In hindsight, it might have been better to not include it (it was a decision made a few months before release IIRC). That level has been adjusted many, many times over the course of 5 years, and the somewhat weird choise between a long route on foot or a autopiloted skycar sequence is a result of that. Oh well, it is what it is.. :)

Metallica - Rebel of babylon

A "new" song, it's a left-over from Death magnetic. Anyway, it kicks quite a lot of ass!  8)

@ Arghantyl: looks nice, I especially like that first shot. The telephone poles look really cool. Maybe the surrounding rocks can use some slopes and height differences?

@ Micky: that looks pretty cool, looks like you managed to recreate the scale of serious sam, and added some cool structures. I would prefer a level in full, bright daylight, since it would make the sheer size of the level even more clear. But it's up to you of course.
You could also add some big structures like the Ice level from the first episode, it would be a great contrast with that blue-ish sky I think.

I agree. I just played Roch Island again and while it looks great, it suffers exactly from that problem.
Anyway, looking forward to this map, the screenshots look good.  :)

Polymer doesn't run properly here, but I just want to say those screenshots in the review topic look really good!

This is a pretty cool map, the cyberworld looks different and really cool. And despite being different, the architecture and the lay-out are still very well done. :)
Gameplay is also pretty good, although it took me a while to find the keycards. So overall it's a good, original concept that has been very well executed. Recommended!  8)

Yes we do!  ;D

Thanks for the topic, Forge. Don't worry about the deleted post, things like that can happen sometimes.
Anyway, we also have our own website now: www.calculatedband.nl

Oh and keep voting of course! http://www.ffcentraal.nl/band-best-band-of-holland/calculated

I'm jealous as well! I've never seen them live and even if they still perform on stage, it's not the same without John Lord (although Steve Morse is almost as kick-ass as Richie Blackmore).

To sum it up: you lucky bastard! ;)

Lol, nice one. You're right about the folky influences, but then again there are also some really pshychedelic parts. Metallica meets Deep purple sounds good though.  8)

On a related note: even latter day Deep Purple is really good, this song is from 1996 and it's bloody brilliant:

Yeah, It lives is one of the best user-maps ever, I aught to replay it one of these days.

I replayed the Imperium episode last week, I think all the testing has kinda spoiled it for me though.  :P I pretty much remembered every corner of every map. Level 4 is still my favorite.

@ Loke: silly humor belongs to Duke, why not release it? ;)
