Glad you like it :) Yeah it could do with more enemies on CGS, that's a fair point (there is more on Damn I'm Good)

Classic Duke 3D / [RELEASE] Dracula's Castle
24 October 2016, 10:16:55
This map was made for the Duke Spook'em add-on but I'm releasing it now as a standalone demo map - when that mod is done there'll be a different tweaked version in that. Designed in and looks best in Classic mode.

Story
Duke Nukem gets shot down by a Science experiment gone wrong near Dracula's Castle - get in and make the bastards pay for rising your flight insurance premium yet again.

Download
Two versions, one that works with vanilla Duke and one for Eduke32. I have tested the vanilla version in World Tour and it does work but IIRC there's no way to add art files or anything to the workshop (unless that's changed) If they fix that than I'll definitely upload it to the workshop with added lights and shit. The Eduke32 version has OGG music as well as a couple of reskinned enemies (Total Meltdown zombie pigcop and a Cthulhu Octabrain by me) so that's the more definitive version.

Vanilla version (719kb):

Eduke32 version (4mb):

Have fun and let me know what you think.

Makes me long back to the good ol' AMC days.
From what I remember Alejandro did actually keep backups of all of the reviews but never got round to converting them into any new kind of format so they've been lost to the ages. It does suck a bit.

Going just from the tripbomb level mentioned, I'm thinking it might be the Lost Duke episodes? You can download it from here.

Yeah it sounds unpleasant, it sucks you're forced to do it but it's definitely appreciated at least to keep the reviews up.

heh heh cool, that's pretty neat and original ;D

If you open up the amc_settings.txt file, you can change some of the performance options to hopefully help a little bit :) Glad you're enjoying it so far despite the fps problems though!
QuoteThe alien bit reminded me of Imperium, but this might be a coincidence since both are inspired by Unreal.
Micky's got a map more directly inspired by Imperium in the works - The Skaarj mothership in Unreal (and a bunch of UT usermaps) was my inspiration for that bit :)

I wouldn't agree with that since the Duke enemies still feature heavily in the first level of each episode, which is pretty much an E3 style romp through a city with a huge Cycloid spaceship parked overhead. It even has general Graves in it giving orders :) Episode 3 will even have a visit to X64-2, which is the same planet that Imperium ends up on.

I don't like painting a bulls-eye on my back, which I've seen happen even to TCs that weren't really hyped that much (well that and intense self-loathing :P) I did post about it on other places but nobody really bit and got interested. Shit happens I guess though, it took a couple of years for reviews to show up of the first episode lol

I would say AMC TC ep2 is a fairly significant release, even if only a couple of the community regulars are actually playing it.

I would never replace Maarten's fantastic voice :P I did add subtitles to it as well as a neat little trick where the character you've picked replies to him as well. It's only minor but it really adds to it I think :) keep us posted on what you think of the TC!

QuoteI also hope the 2 custom sounds are present? They're important for the last part of the map.
Not only are they present, they even have cutscene subtitles now - if you get the time, check out ABBA and what I did with the scientist in the classic collection 8)

There's a code for that switch - there should be a crack on a wall in front of a locked door (with blood on it) which you can blow up and find a vent. This'll eventually lead to a security office which has the code down on a computer screen.

It might be a good idea to reduce your resolution a bit, which normally helps quite a bit. I do try and improve performance where I can, but I think it was worth it for what he managed to achieve. Happy to hear you're liking the level in anycase :)
