Hey, I didn't know Aerosmith covered that song! Pretty cool rendition.
Yeah I can hear what you mean. :)

Someone actually made the connection to "Come together" before, must be the vocal melody which has a similar feel.
(unintentionally though).

Here's a song from De Staat to compare. The similarities are within the music and the groove, not the vocals:

Lol! :D

Deep purple will always be an influence, especially the hammond organs.
Although this track was mostly inspired by more recent bands like Queens of the Stoneage and De Staat (Dutch band)

Sorry for the uber-late reply. I haven't visited this site in a while.
But thanks for the comments, glad you liked the maps!

As for the 3rd part, I've been working on the Alien Armageddon mod the last few months.
And right now I'm busy with music again. So it might take a while..

But sooner or later I'll make the map. I do have plenty of ideas for it.

Woah, I was just browsing old Calculated stuff because I'm in a nostalgic mood and now I see this haha. :)

The band Calculated no longer exists, unfortunately. Our drummer moved to Denmark, and we couldn't find a suitable replacement for him.

However! We're still doing gigs with a new band called Tea Rex. The music is still very much Oostrum-style, but it's a bit lighter and more upbeat compared to Calculated. In fact, we just recorded an EP, which will be released on November the 16th. I'll post the link once it's available online.

Here's a recent live performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlF8OEG4d4M

You can browse the channel for more videos, there's even a Pink Floyd cover in there. :)

Having survived the events of part 1: Apocollapse, Duke tries to find his way towards the epicentre of the disaster, located right underneath a local venue called "The Kompleks".

The situation is dire. The alien weapon is recharching for an even bigger blast and time is running out.  Duke is the only one close enough to get there before it's too late. But deep chasms, collapsed  buildings and unstable surfaces transformed the city into a very dangerous and hostile environment.

And that's without mentioning the constant assault of ruthless aliens, sent by their mysterious leader Froyd Eenakee..

Well there it is. Part 2 of the story. Large city hit by a monstrous quake.
Made for classic/polymost, skill settings are present. I hope you guys enjoy! :)

Thanks man! :)
Glad you enjoyed it.

About the number of walls: yeah I actually was a bit surprised I got away with that. :p
I was worried that I might have pushed it too far at times, but luckily the game handled the big, open areas very well!

haha, that's understandable. XD
Glad you liked it!

Thanks for adding the map to the site - nice screenshots! :)

What did you think of the level?

***BRRRRRMMMRRR!!!***

Duke woke up from his slumber. The hotel room looked dark.
The sky outside still tried to go for as many shades of grey as possible, but at least it stopped raining.
What just happened? It felt like the entire room was shaking.. An earthquake?
As far as Duke knew, there were no major fault lines in Europe. Must have been his imagination.

Suddenly, the room started to violently shake again. But this time, it didn't stop...

Well, here it is! A massive city map, hit by a massive quake.
Made with classic mode in mind. Skill settings are present, I'd recommend "let's rock" for the first playthrough.

My map is nearly done, I almost hit the wall limit so I'm on the final stages.
Needless to say, it became a pretty damn big map. :)

I expect to release it in September.

I would make sure my map gets properly tested before I release it, so we would never have that problem. :)
But I also agree with Mikko, there should be room for exceptions.

On a side note, it's too bad there's so much vitriol in this community.
Not just your examples, but I also see it on the duke4 forums a lot. Now there's another shitstorm involving Sanek and it's just tiresome. No wonder there a fewer and fewer releases..

Makes me long back to the good ol' AMC days.

IIRC the "no updates" rule was installed after some authors kept rereleasing new patches of their map? I can see how that's annoying for a site like this. Several new patches are understandable if it's a big TC or a mod, but a single level?

Sorry to hear that you received so much negative feedback. :\

Late reaction - but thanks for the explanation Forge.
To be honest, I was wondering why new maps didn't receive reviews anymore.

But sounds like a lot of trouble indeed, too bad because I always enjoy reading your reviews.
I can do some write ups as well, I've played most new releases so I could at least cover those.

Don't expect top notch quality reviews though..
