Couldn't help starting this good ol' thread. 8)
Right now when I'm building this forums I listen to Evergrey - A Touch of blessing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KndN4UktE14)
I'm listening to my own compilation.. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_VrwmP7nCE) 8)
Sounds nice! Some guitar tunes there....
And welcome aboard, Merlijn :)
You could make your own topic for your band?
^"Stem" means the same in Norwegian ;)
Have of course cast my vote.

Thanks guys! I'll make a band topic soon enough.
I think the best comparison I've heard thus far was "you guys kinda sound like Pink Floyd meets Metallica!" Heh, it's not that far from the thruth I guess. :P
I like metallica meets deep purple better. Your band has a distinct folk style to it which is more like early deep purple rather than the psychedelic style of pink floyd (though the guitar playing is across a wide range of styles and could be comparable to Gilmore's depth, the meat of the band still "Heavy Folk Metal" - lol -coin that phrase on your next album)
Lol, nice one. You're right about the folky influences, but then again there are also some really pshychedelic parts. Metallica meets Deep purple sounds good though. 8)
On a related note: even latter day Deep Purple is really good, this song is from 1996 and it's bloody brilliant:
Deep purple - Sometimes I feel like screaming (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fsbIbAt_mo)
Very good song. I never understand why some songs/bands never get the recognition & air play they deserve.
When I hear calculated these are some of the songs I think of.
Deep Purple - Hush (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z3-PCWHwdo)
Deep Purple - Mandrake Root (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WZoBFtqtf0)

Not really, but I am jealous
Stockholm 1985:
I'm jealous as well! I've never seen them live and even if they still perform on stage, it's not the same without John Lord (although Steve Morse is almost as kick-ass as Richie Blackmore).
To sum it up: you lucky bastard! ;)
Deep Purple was supposed to come through Spokane, Washington in '85-86, but cancelled. I turned my tickets in for Blue Oyster Cult and seen them instead
Ah---now it's my time to become jealous.
Blue Oyster Cult is in my hall of fame 8)
Pink Floyd - Goodbye Blue Sky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58_S5e0AVU0)
This track (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdIKHuw4T_Q) will be played when the final curtain falls before my eyes... :)

Nice track and band, although I like Porcupine Tree better
For some reason I have a fever of rare 70's rock bands. Usually they have only one studio album.
Here's some very unknown and awesome songs
Hard Stuff - Sinister Minister (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmRHVV44BBw) Catchy hard rock
Granicus - Prayer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK-LBu4yWAA) The vocals are priceless in this one. I have no idea why this band disappeared.
I Drive - Down Down Down (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffAT27T53N8)
Armageddon – Silver Tightrope (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I6nF5B7cAA)
Tucky Buzzard - Time Will Be Your Doctor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjkDN2EiJKE)

Porcupine tree - Waiting phase two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvuZzmq6yXc=)
After a bussy day, it's really nice to relax to psychedelic / ambient music... 8)
Double post keke ...^^
Porcupine Tree - Sever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6TFPmLFeo8&feature=related)
Of the same album, this one is more rocky and really good too... ;D

UFO-Lights Out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3TmNu0MNyw)
Hah..UFO bring back memories from the 80's to me 8)
Anyway, this little piece of music knocked me off me feet.
Nitrogods - At least I'm drunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge_NekXwDGM&feature=relmfu).
This tune will be spinning in my house the next few partys, that's for sure!

Dewolff - don't you go up the sky, pinkpop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCfRP6Kn3w8)
Great music 8)
reminds me of the doors (the keyboards)
reminds me of Ram Jam (the drums & bass)
reminds me of deep purple (the rhythm guitar)
Always loved all the stuff of Juno Reactor, they are so versatile, from Psy-trance to some kind of electro-rock and ambient also:
Juno Reactor - Immaculate Cruxifiction (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NemQKwFDn0A")
Juno Reactor - Las Vegas Future Past (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPSF9ixfzd0")
Juno Reactor - Giant (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6fkT_IlglI")
One of my favourites:
Juno Reactor - Angels and Men (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v3G-j2eOz0")
So atmospheric and post-apocaliptic
Oh how could I forgot this:

Your links on the previous page aren't working, for some reason there are 2 http's in your links so you need to remove one. ;)
Anyway, I'm listening to angels and men and I have to agree that it's very atmopsheric. Not the type of music I would usually listen to, but very nice nonetheless.
PS: yes Maarten, dewolff is great. Hammond organs FTW 8)
I want to promote some Dutch music today: Delain
The lead singer is actually very good!
Delain - April Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-X-9UNu3Nw)
There's plenty of good dutch music (and I don't mean just my own band.. ehm cough :P), too bad it's not very well known though.
In fact, Dewolff (that band Maarten posted on the previous page) is Dutch as well! 8)
More good Dutch music:Earth & Fire - Storm and Thunder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0RjBfifDCw)
Atmospheric progrock from the 70's. Some great keyboard playing and powerfull female vocals.
^Sounds like eary music from YES 8)

It's what I've always said; The metal bands write the best ballads! 8)

I'm off for the "Inferno Festival".
Sold out, as expected.
Cool with a metal festival during Easter, isn't it? 8)
Todays headliner would be: Dimmu Borgir (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7vg7ir8jyc)

History seems to repeat itself....
Just got my hands on tickets for the Inferno Festival 2024, taking place this Easter in Oslo.
Headliner would be, of course, Dimmu Borgir.
A band originated from my little village 8)
It's this time of year again.
Easter means the Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway.
I've got tickets for the Saturday night show with lots of cool bands.
I'm especially looking forward to see Orbit Culture from Sweden and of course, our very own Dimmu Borgir! 8)
