Ah yes, those pesky trick doors in the first wing.
I considered making them larger...but who doesn't like to get squished...especially when you are in the middle of finding a secret area!
On the regular single doors, the doors that do not have lights on above them are not accessible.
Each switch opens a set of main double doors.  So less to track down.  No need to go around looking at every door.
But I guess the player would not know this at first and will spend some time wandering.
Maybe we can post some notes on the steam page to save players some time.
Or maybe we just let them wander for a bit!
Was fun working on the map.

General Discussion / Mapping in 20th edition
03 September 2018, 06:23:01
Anyone doing this?

I see I can unload eduke into the 20th edition folder in steam and then map and use new textures.
Anyone using those textures just in eduke?

Looking to see how new 20th maps can be played in just eduke...if anyone is doing it.

Just in time for Friday fun.
Travel through snow, temples, alien space, and back again with Duke.  Don't let those Ba$tards teleport themselves to Earth!
Piece of cake is easier but all other difficulties are the same.  Hopefully fun and challenging for the vets.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Nice catch on jumping over and not needing the first card.  No one pulled the matrix jump in testing.

I didn't think it would be a good idea to see the entire map most of the time as the frames would tank...they already hit 30 in some spots.  There is a DM version on steam that allows for more of this type of play and visibility.
Actually had a couple people say they liked how much they could see from certain parts of the map...

Ah...Palette 3 on the floors...oops...but it's not a map breaker.  I did notice the cards were the same color!

Also, Duke has ordered some lime green 1970's refrigerators as a parting gift for the Alien ship to match their retro style.

Thanks again and thanks for checking it out!

Second SP map for Duke. Also on Steam...

Story: Hold your breath with Duke as he defies gravity and tracks down more alien scum...in space! After Duke saved Earth, the aliens retreated to a nearby space station.   It appears that the alien bastards were able to escape with some of our Earth women...oh no!!! ...what could they be up too?!?!?!   Fly in with Duke and investigate, save the ladies, AND BE A HERO!!!

General Discussion / Duke In Space MP3

Just throwing this out there for fun...
MP3 of the audio track for the map I am finishing up.
The song can stand on its own and I just wanted to share.
Enjoy and thanks

The concept itself wasn't all that special, but it was a solid map.

I like the choice of sandstone over the typical grey/brown brick texturing. Some pretty intense and enjoyable fire-fights too.

Thanks for checking it out.  Seems that everyone enjoyed it and most of the issues were small.  Appreciate all the comments and help from those who looked.  The biggest issues I found came when trying the map out on steam/megaton...there were a bunch of problems that do not happen when in eduke.  Next time around I need to test in megaton first.  But lesson learned.
Steam version is out there and has a few modified spots.  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=337955180    Thanks again!

Not bad! Had some crashing issues due to the included vocs though. http://msdn.duke4.net/hotjmwsp1.php

Edit: Also love the McFarlaneish look you gave this Spidey: http://www.jmwrightdesigns.t15.org/art/spiderman.JPG

Ah, yes that was a very Mcrfarlanish inspired drawing!

Ah yes....this is the part where I say "I meant to do that" and "it is fancy Egyptian grass"....hmm, that second one sounds more like something one might smoke before playing Duke.
Nevertheless, the truth is that I did angle the ground and then added the grass in thinking it would be 'cool'.
After a while I sort of forgot about it...
But thanks for the info.  Will remember for next time.  ...Unless everyone really likes the amazing new Egyptian tall jungle grass!

New single player / Coop map for Duke.

The setting is a recently discovered ancient temple. Research and excavation are under way...until something goes terribly wrong!
All contact is lost with the research team and horrible noises can be heard through the radio! What should we do...SEND IN DUKE!!!

A big thanks to Duke64 for the testing.

Map should be up on steam workshop soon but a link is also below.

thank you for the info.
Looks like I downloaded too many maps and ended up using some of the custom art on accident.

Puritan - I worked on various mods for Half Life 1 when it was the top FPS PC game years back.
Some maps were included in the mod downloads.  Also some audio/music I did.
I did a map for Doom 3 but not much after that.

Micky C - I have considered the single player maps.  Might try one.
I am still working with the editor...not sure my wall shading is all that great but thanks.  I need to toy/practice with it a bit more...but that's were another map would come into play.
