A new episode with 5 new maps and tons of new enemies, weapons and other stuff. Dan did the coding, sebabduke did the art, William Gee and the Oostrums did a new map whilst Merlijn made another one by himself (IIRC, not sure if Maarten worked on that one) and then James S. contributed 3 maps after that (and a bunch of minor shit)

For the two people here that don't visit AMC or Duke4

Hello, I am releasing my Duke Forces TC 1.0 today. There's a thread like this at duke4.net, but not everyone here posts there.

Duke Forces is a modification of Duke Nukem 3d inspired by the Star Wars Dark Forces series. It works with all Duke Nukem 3D levels and automatically converts weapons, enemies, textures, sprites, music...pretty much everything into Star Wars content

DUKE FORCES ON MOD DB  -- Download on Mod DB works now
_____________________

Run EDuke32 from within the DukeForces folder and it should just work -- you do need DUKE3D.GRP but if you have Duke 3D on Steam then you don't need to copy it.

A few disclaimers:
The "Duke Forces" episode is not a true story mode. We don't have new maps yet. It is a collection of old maps that are converted by code on the fly. Same goes for the original Duke 3D episodes. The map files have not been altered in any way. All map authors are credited.
The conversion from Duke content to Star Wars content is not complete. There are still many Duke textures and sprites in the game. Also, the inclusion of some standard Duke enemies is deliberate. If you read the backstory (see Help and the opening crawl of the Duke Forces episode) it explains that the aliens who invaded Earth actually came from the Star Wars galaxy.

I wish I could say that there will definitely be a story mode in a future release, but in reality the future is uncertain. It depends on the mod being able to continue development, and having level designers willing to spend a lot of time making maps.

New map by Kevin Mooney

kinda reminds me of one of those pre-'98 maps that's not the greatest thing out there, but is pretty good and worth a look. especially if you like old school maps

The national hockey league team NY Rangers are doing very well (the team I like)
the Anaheim Ducks, not so much (the team somebody else allegedly likes)

Crackdown by EmericaSkater

Kind of a classic style. For some reason it reminds me a little bit of Castle Wolfenstein meets Rise of the Triad Blake Stone as far as the environment goes. Could be the enemies, the general layout, the texturing combos & shading, could just be me. Either case, I like it.
Game play can be a bit challenging, seems I was always one or two good blasts from dying, but it was fun, not frustrating.
I'll get this reviewed soon

Classic Duke 3D / Reviews and Submissions
08 December 2011, 16:29:29
Welcome to Come Get Some.

This site is recently opened and getting off the ground. While our grand administrator, Puritan, works hard on getting a data base put together and adding content to the site, we welcome our members to submit reviews for excellent maps and mods that they feel deserve some attention, recognition, and would like to see hosted.

Puritan's intent is to host as many excellent releases as possible.

Feel free to submit a review for your favorite maps and mods here in this topic. All that is required is a write up describing the map/mod, six(preferably) or more screen shots, and a link to the file. If you want to submit a review, but would rather not post up in this thread, e-mail your submission to Puritan at    Administrator@scent-88.com or myself at forge@scent-88.com  Even if doing reviews is not your thing, providing solid suggestions and recommendations will contribute to future content.

Important!

A submitted map and/or review uploaded here will not be changed whatsoever.
Be absolutely sure that the map/review is done before releasing it.

General Discussion / Science and Curiosities

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — NASA's planet-hunting Kepler spacecraft has confirmed the discovery of its first alien world in its host star's habitable zone — that just-right range of distances that could allow liquid water to exist — and found more than 1,000 new exoplanet candidates, researchers announced today (Dec. 5).

The new finds bring the Kepler space telescope's total haul to 2,326 potential planets in its first 16 months of operation. These discoveries, if confirmed, would quadruple the current tally of worlds known to exist beyond our solar system, which recently topped 700.

The potentially habitable alien world, a first for Kepler, orbits a star very much like our own sun. The discovery brings scientists one step closer to finding a planet like our own — one which could conceivably harbor life, scientists said.

Three blondes are walking through the forest. They come upon some tracks.

The first blonde says, "They're deer tracks."
The second blonde says, "They're bear tracks."
The third blonde says, "They're moose tracks."

Then a train hits them.

Media Forum / Oostrum's band Calculated
06 December 2011, 11:52:24
http://www.myspace.com/calculated1

Calculated is a Dutch rockband from Heerhugowaard, founded on the 11th of november, 2008. Our music incorporates various styles and is generally very diverse, but we still have a signature sound (and a lot of curly hair!). To describe our sound is pretty hard in itself - sweet pianopieces, pshychedelic sounds, melanchonic vocal melodies.. they mix remarkably well with heavy guitarriffs, growling baslines, crazy synthesizersolo's and agressive drumming. Sometimes you'll hear all of the above in the same song! Despite all that, the songs still remain catchy and memorable. We invite you to take a listen!

Members:
Merlijn van Oostrum - vocals/keyboards/guitar
Maarten van Oostrum - vocals/keyboards/guitar
Ivar de Hoogt - drums
Lars Jonker - bass
Influences:
Porcupine tree, Pink Floyd, Metallica, John Frusciante, System of a down
Sounds Like:
experimental, with a slight emphasis on mental.
