A few words with William Gee by Puritan on May 23-2013

Age : 32 (2013)
Location : New Zealand
Occupation : Artist

CGS : When did you first get in touch with Build/Mapster?
William : Around 1996/1997ish, I had no internet back then only the 1.3d CD and it has build in a folder, I just played around and learnt on my own

CGS : What was your first map, released or unreleased?
William : My first releases were DM maps, LOTS and Labrenth. I think my first SP release was AlienX. But I had made hundreds of basic ugly levels before then

CGS : What is your favourite among your own maps?
William : WGCity and WGAlien

CGS : How many maps have you done?
William : 11 SP maps 21 DM maps 3 episodes 1 standalone game 11 CBP projects

CGS : Where do you get inspiration from?
William : I used to get a lot from Lord of the Rings, but other than that, Duke maps and games like unreal.

CGS : Do you listen to music whilst mapping? If so, what did you listen to?
William : It has been a long time since I have mapped, I do remember listening to Audioslave, it always reminds me of mapping when I listen to it. Or the Tiberian sun soundtrack or Unreal soundtrack, there would have been more but I have forgotten.

CGS : Do you see mapping as competitive?
William : In some ways yes in other ways no.
I start maps with a fun intention to enjoy myself creating something that I like, but there is always the urge to create something bigger or more sophisticated or more FUN better puzzles original ideas n so on. But the "Competitive" nature is normally aimed at myself and not others.

CGS : Do you still touch Build/Mapster?
William : Not for 2 years

CGS : Are you playing any DN3D maps these days?
William : No not really. I just bought DN2 for my iphone and got board pretty quick.

CGS : What's your favourite map of all time?
William : Of the top of my head, Warzone? The big city level that has been smashed up? Its a OLD map.

CGS : What are your opinion about the HRP and Polymer projects?
William : Its has been so long since I have touched them and I no longer have a pc that will run them, but back then they were cool, I do like classic style though.

CGS : What other games do you fancy?
William : I only play SC2 HOTS atm

CGS : Finally, is it something you'd like to say to the DN3D community?
William : It has been 2 years since I have really been involved in the community, but there are some people I want to mention and say thanks too.
Firstly to my friends Mrline and Maartn, we had the best times mapping modding testing playing, I guess they were my best duke memories, looking at the list of CBP'S OGBB.map was the most fun to build and is still a awesome level.
Dan, who made WGR2 a reality, someone I could actually plan and work with, with no friction and who did the work needed to be done, we made a great team. Along with Cage. And of cause those of you who have worked on WGR2 "SPIKER", "DanM" And the new WGR2 team who have picked the game up to make something even more awesome, thank you all.
There are a lot of other people worth mentioning but I don't want to write a litany, if you think your worth mentioning count yourself mentioned.
Thanks to all of you who I have known in the duke community your all awesome.
BTW I didn't play DNF yet.
