A few words with Robert Wypior (underTaker) by Puritan on February 20-2013

Age : 19 (2013)
Location : Wodzislaw, Poland
Occupation : Student

CGS : When did you first get in touch with Build/Mapster?
Robert : Oh, it was when i was like 14. I always liked creating maps for various games and I, of cource, had to try Duke. I wasn't too good at it, so I abandoned it, and got back to Duke mapping few years later.

CGS : What was your first map, released or unreleased?
Robert : My first released map was Forever and One More Day, which was supposed to be part of my Episode, which i was creating with friend RazorZ, but it didn't work. I then took the best map made by me, added few details, generally improved it, and - here it is.

CGS : What is your favourite among your own maps?
Robert : I think Brainwash Facility - i took really much efford when creating it, mostly with nicely looking sloped roofs without using TROR (which i'm completely green at ^^ ).

CGS : How many maps have you done?
Robert : Four released single player maps, and 2 unreleased DM maps. Currently CBP 9 is ongoing, and i have unfinished fifth map at my computer.

CGS : Where do you get inspiration from?
Robert : Generally - from deeps of my sick mind, i just start doing something, see what it becomes, add few more details, looks what it becomes one more time, etc, etc. My last map - described in third point - was different - i took website about abandoned places, and also took inspiration from Call of Cthulhu.

CGS : Do you listen to music whilst mapping? If so, what did you listen to?
Robert : Of course I do, I can't do anything without music I like every genre and band as long as it's good. My favourite genre is rock and everything that inherits from it.

CGS : Do you see mapping as competitive?
Robert : Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It's cool to put some innovative effect, that hasn't been used in any map yet, put some exotic layout that no one ever have seen...

CGS : Do you still touch Build/Mapster?
Robert : Of course I do, i find it fun, just like playing games - except, you can do something, that others will see. Currently I'm having little break - my finals are closing, and I have to prepare for them at last.

CGS : Are you playing any DN3D maps these days?
Robert : Sure I do. I try to play every new released maps. I find most of them really entertaining, just like whole Duke 3D.

CGS : What's your favourite map of all time?
Robert : Oh, now that's a hard question. I like really huge amount of various maps. I think something from Roch series by Pascal. I can't recall any specific maps at this time.

CGS : What are your opinion about the HRP and Polymer projects?
Robert : I actually love their idea. When i first turned on HRP I was like "Whoa, this looks great!", and really similar reaction was with Polymer! It is really cool that somebody still wants to improve gool old Duke!

CGS : What other games do you fancy?
Robert : My all the time favourite is surely Team Fortress 2, but speaking about typical single player games i have to say - Dishonored, Max Payne 3 or Deus Ex 3.

CGS : Finally, is it something you'd like to say to the DN3D community?
Robert : I think I just have to thank you guys for supporting me with my maps. If they are any good, it's thanks to you, because you tell me what you would like to change, and opinion of others is important. Thank you really much
