A few words with Taivo Maripuu by Puritan on March 03-2013

Age : 29 (2013)
Location : Estonia
Occupation : Electronics engineer

CGS : When did you first get in touch with Build/Mapster?
Taivo Maripuu : I think it was in 2001 or 2002 don't remember exactly. Shortly after I got my first computer.

CGS : What was your first map, released or unreleased?
Taivo Maripuu : First release was a map titled "Taivo's deathcity"

CGS : What is your favourite among your own maps?
Taivo Maripuu : Dogville 2012 version or Dark Place 5

CGS : How many maps have you done?
Taivo Maripuu : I have lost count but between 10-20 maybe, some are collaborations don't know if I should count them or not!

CGS : Where do you get inspiration from?
Taivo Maripuu : Sometimes I'll find some pictures of places I like and sometimes I just randomly start building and trying out textures etc. and fiddle around till I like what I have built.

CGS : Do you listen to music whilst mapping? If so, what did you listen to?
Taivo Maripuu : Yes I listen to music whenever I am behind a computer. I listen to everything - rock, hip-hop, metal, soul, jazz, techno, drum'n'bass, dubstep, house, ambient etc.

CGS : Do you see mapping as competitive?
Taivo Maripuu : Not really. Maybe I like to challenge myself and build a better map then my previous one.

CGS : Do you still touch Build/Mapster?
Taivo Maripuu : If I have time and motivation I will build, right now I'm taking a break though.

CGS : Are you playing any DN3D maps these days?
Taivo Maripuu : If a new map pops up then I'll check it out.

CGS : What's your favourite map of all time?
Taivo Maripuu : Red 3!

CGS : What are your opinion about the HRP and Polymer projects?
Taivo Maripuu : I prefer classic mode for some reason. Haven't used HRP in years

CGS : What other games do you fancy?
Taivo Maripuu : I don't play that many games. I like to play some older games from my childhood. Only new game I have played in the last 3 years is Skyrim.

CGS : Finally, is it something you'd like to say to the DN3D community?
Taivo Maripuu : Keep on building maps!
