A few words with Mister Sinister by Puritan on February 17-2014

Age : 19 (2014)
Location : Tula, Russia
Occupation : Student.

CGS : When did you first get in touch with Build/Mapster?
Mister Sinister : I think it happened back in 2008. I was 13 or 14 at the moment and I thought it would be fun to learn it.

CGS : What was your first map, released or unreleased?
Mister Sinister : The very first map I made was some kind of a forest with a wooden house. It is lost forever now.

CGS : What is your favourite among your own maps?
Mister Sinister : I tend to hate all of my maps, but I think it's going to be my latest map, "Slaughterfest".

CGS : How many maps have you done?
Mister Sinister : I've done around 35 maps, but only 14 of them were released.

CGS : Where do you get inspiration from?
Mister Sinister : I don't really have some definite source of inspiration. Ideas are popping up in my head quite randomly.

CGS : Do you listen to music whilst mapping? If so, what did you listen to?
Mister Sinister : I don't map without music. I listen to a lot of different music, but I don't choose music specifically for mapping. For example, when I was making "Slaughterfest" I recall listening to Wire's "154" and Alphaville's "Forever Young". I'm into shoegaze, post-punk, synth-pop, twee-pop, industrial, indie rock, stoner rock.

CGS : Do you see mapping as competitive?
Mister Sinister : No, I don't. Mapping is not a sport or something like that.

CGS : Do you still touch Build/Mapster?
Mister Sinister : Yes, I do. I have a map in development right now.

CGS : Are you playing any DN3D maps these days?
Mister Sinister : I kinda lost my interest in it, but sometimes I do.

CGS : What's your favourite map of all time?
Mister Sinister : I don't have a favourite map, but there is a TC for Duke Nukem 3D I adore and consider my favourite - Oblivion TC by Zaxtor.

CGS : What are your opinion about the HRP and Polymer projects?
Mister Sinister : HRP ruins the feel and atmosphere of original game, but that's just my opinion. Also, I've never tried using Polymer.

CGS : What other games do you fancy?
Mister Sinister : Quite a lot of them. Full list goes like this: Half-Life series, Unreal '98, Silent Hill 2, Super Meat Boy, Serious Sam, System Shock 2, Doom I & II, Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 4, Dungeon Keeper, Minecraft, Painkiller, Tron 2.0, Quake III, HoMM III, Worms Armageddon, Hotline Miami.

CGS : Finally, is it something you'd like to say to the DN3D community?
Mister Sinister : It's nice to see that community is still alive. Keep up the good work.
