A few words with Duke64Nukem by Puritan on September 30-2014

Age : 24 (2014)
Location : Baltimore,MD USA
Occupation : Promotions.

CGS : When did you first get in touch with Build/Mapster?
Duke64Nukem : I actually first tried it out when I was building Duke Nukem maps in the unreal development kit for some newer games such as Rise Of The Triad 2013 and decided to move to mapster why make maps of Duke when I can make maps for Duke. That was around November 2013

CGS : What was your first map, released or unreleased?
Duke64Nukem : My first map was a dm map "Duke64Ever" but my first sp map was "Ghost Town".

CGS : What is your favourite among your own maps?
Duke64Nukem : At the moment Turok or ForeverDoom can't decide.

CGS : How many maps have you done?
Duke64Nukem : I have done 8 original maps between sp and dm styles.

CGS : Where do you get inspiration from?
Duke64Nukem : I get my inspiration from my favorite games, infact all my maps are based off another game even if it's another Duke game. I love to make maps for Duke 3D and combining my favorite games is so fun. The opportunity to help extend this game even more then it already has been is nice to.

CGS : Do you listen to music whilst mapping? If so, what did you listen to?
Duke64Nukem : I always listen to music/ambience that matches or fits the theme/style of the map I am making. I find myself playing ambience that sounds like a forest at night along with some horror ambience and some nice guitar instrumentals. Normally songs with lyrics can be distracting but there's occasions.

CGS : Do you see mapping as competitive?
Duke64Nukem : Yes I actually do, especially on steam. Though not everyone would feel it, I do indeed feel the tension from certain others when I release a map. Some of it is positive some of it is negative. In the end I just want to make a map that's fun and hope people and mainly my friends can enjoy it while I have fun creating a map.

CGS : Do you still touch Build/Mapster?
Duke64Nukem : I launch mapster everyday as of now!

CGS : Are you playing any DN3D maps these days?
Duke64Nukem : Yes pretty much an everyday thing. I play through eduke32/mapster,Megaton, and Meltdown. Also, I have a Duke group on steam where we set games up daily and talk/play called Duke Nukem Begins. Though I mostly play newly released maps you can catch me playing almost anything from mods to maps old or new sp or mp.

CGS : What's your favourite map of all time?
Duke64Nukem : That is pretty hard to say for me, I like alot of maps as of right now I recently played "It Lives" and that was superb. But I guess if I had to choose I might pick "Rabid Transit" from Duke Nukem 64. Quite amazing how they changed that map and the new area you can see back into "Gun Crazy" aka "Red Light District" so simple yet complex feeling.

CGS : What are your opinion about the HRP and Polymer projects?
Duke64Nukem : I think they are great projects. Nice to see people trying to upgrade the game and it's quite popular amongst alot of the community right now. Although I personally don't play with them, I just play the original mixed with some Duke Nukem 64 features.

CGS : What other games do you fancy?
Duke64Nukem : Turok, Shadow Warrior, Doom, Metal Gear Solid, Rise of the Triad 2013 and Resident Evil. (No particular order) Also some Nintendo classics Mario, Donkey Kong, Painkiller and Zelda

CGS : Finally, is it something you'd like to say to the DN3D community?
Duke64Nukem : Long live the king, "It's time to make tracks".
