Title : Brooklyn Bridge Filename : BrooklynBridge.MAP Author : Paul Bolduc E-mail : p_bolduc@hotmail.com Web Page : Your URL, if you have one Misc. Author Info : Try my other maps. Other Levels : RCPD.MAP & Parkade.map Description\Story : After checking his bags in at the Brooklyn Hotel Duke leaves the foyer with the intentions of heading down to the local arcade to play some video games. At the time it seemed like a good way to spend a quiet Friday evening. However, Duke’s plans are quickly spoiled when a fireball illuminates the sky followed by an explosion taking out part of the Brooklyn Bridge. For security measures the city has immediately entered into lock down and getting around could be tricky. There is a strange fighter jet patrolling the bridge and Duke’s instincts tell him it’s not friendly. Unfortunately, there wont’ be any time for R & R. The aliens quickly have taken over the bridge and surrounding area while defacing the digital billboard sign making their presence known. Their message to the community reads: “Duke Nukem Must Die”! There is no way in Hell Duke’s going to sit quietly over these words and only Duke can blow things up and get away with it. Who the Hell do these Aliens think they are? ====================================================================== * Play Information * Episode and Level # : Stand-a-lone Single Player : Yes DukeMatch 2-8 Player : Yes Cooperative 2-8 Player : Yes Difficulty Settings : Yes Plutonium Pak Required : Yes New Art : No New Music : No New Sound Effects : No New .CON Files : No Demos Replaced : No ===================================================================== * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Level Editor(s) Used : Mapster Art Editor(s) Used : None Construction Time : 4 Months Known Bugs/Problems : None that I know of. This map was created using the Polymer renderer. So make sure you play it in that video mode because it uses a lot of true room over room (TROR). I have only tested this map with EDUKE version 3022. I would recommend running version 3022 or the latest version of Eduke found here: http://dukeworld.duke4.net/eduke32/synthesis/ This map hasn't been tested with any mods. Special thanks to Micky C, David B & Methy on the Duke4.net forums for helping me play test this map. They offered suggestions for improvements and design considerations by provided me with a thoroughly detailed report with screenshots of all the things that need addressing. Your time was very much appreciated and I can't thank you guys enough! Also, I would like to thank anyone who chooses to hosts this map on their web server. Thanks for playing my map, it's Duke fan's like you that inspire mappers like me to create maps. Have fun! ===================================================================== *Important Information* Installation : Any special installation instructions should go here. If there are none, leave blank. Additional Credits: The BrooklynBridge.map has made use of some custom pre-designed sprites not created by myself and these sprite objects have either been directly copied or duplicated to resemble the objects found in other Duke user maps. I have chosen to make use of these sprite objects to enrich my maps game play & aesthetics of BrooklynBridge.map. Therefore, I would like to give credit to where credit is due. For their vision in creating some pretty unique sprite arrangements out of a limited selection of built-in sprite art tiles. 1) The Street lights found on the street view near the Hotel entrance were originally designed by David B. and first made their appearance in his Hamilton Pool.map 2) The fancy bridge sprite railing was a nice touch provided by David B. 3) The upper bridge sprite joists attached to the beams with lights on them was taken from Metropolitan Starlight.map (CBP8) I believe this was Norvak's handy sprite work. You are a time saver! =) 4) The dinning room tables found in the Sushi Bar their original sprite concept and design was created by Norvak and appeared in his NSA.map 5) The enclosed fire extinguishers found littered through out the map: Their original concept and design was taken from Loke's map in Retaliation.map Thank you very much to all those who have created these original sprite objects! Your creativity and effort is greatly appreciated. Important Notes : Please don't modify or copy any parts of this map. Please redistribute BrooklynBridge.MAP with the BrooklynBridge.TXT file.
