To this end, a number of space facilities were constructed, all nations working together in unity to create the custom environments that, ironically, would be used for killing. Prototypes I - V were failures - the budget assigned to the construction of the space stations was simply not high enough. The infastructure collapsed, and a number of luckless contestants were blown out into space to die. The sixth such arena to be built was different. Funded by advertising and hype, this orbiting slaughterhouse was a neon-lit, multileveled, hi-tech affair, with lifts, catwalks and tunnels. Containing only the bare computer equipment and coolant necessary to maintain a breathable atmosphere, and removing such cumbersome obstacles as doors and unnecessary decoration, the station known as 'DM6' was to become one of the premier televised locations in the 22nd century. Those who survived became heroes, those who did not became annoying little puddles of glop on someone's shoe.
