PROLOGUE The Grand High Commander wandered through the ruins of the orbital station, surveying the damage. The station groaned and hissed as its poorly abused strcture settled. A squad of lizardman troopers surrounded the Commander to protect him from any unseen danger. Eventually the Grand High Commander stood over the body of one of his most advanced genetically-engineered cyber-enhanced war beasts. Its head lay nearby. The Commander seethed. "These reports cannot possibly be correct," he muttered. "How can one man, one puny human being, cause all this damage? How could he dispatch this war beast single handed?" "But sir," spoke one of the troopers. "I have seen his actions first hand! He is not like any other human being we have ever encountered! His reflexes are far faster, his training is superb, he appears to be highly resistant to damage...and his attitude, well that speaks for itself." The trooper gestured towards the fecal pile sitting in the end of the slain beast's neck. With one giant claw, the Commander squashed the trooper for speaking out of turn. However, he carefully considered the point. Perhaps this Duke Nukem was not entirely human... "During all this carnage," he said with sudden volume, "the human must have been injured at least once. Spread out. Find a sample of his blood or tissue and take it to the labs. I want it analysed and if possible, copied!" END PROLOGUE "Captain," piped up one of the junior officers aboard the starship SS Shitstorm, "We have intercepted an intelligence report that the target will be assisting in cleanup operations in the city of El-Ay." "Excellent," said the captain, his rolls of fat jiggling with glee. "Secure the clones and initiate drop procedures. We'll see how well this human fares against himself!" The captain's laughter could be heard even in the void of space. Title : Clean Up Operations Filename : CUO.MAP Author : Andrew "Dman" Orman Email Address : aorman@hotmail.com Misc. What I was aiming for was a certain feel for Dukematch playing i.e. Dukematching in the ruined city of LA after the invasion attempt. The little fiction at the start of this file is just to explain why there are multiple versions of Duke running all over the place fighting with himself. I broke one of the cardinal rules of map building while working on this level; I didn't keep a close eye on the frame rate. The level, while not overly complex, is quite large. The lowest frame rate I found was 23 fps which isn't tooooo bad I suppose. It shouldn't cause any problems with game play unless you have a particularly slow machine. I realised I had begun to get a bit out of control when I started work on the garage. I went back and trimmed a few unnecessary sectors to try and alleviate the slowdown, but I think the overall effect was minimal. Anyhoo, have fun playing it and let me know what you think! You can also keep an eye out for MEDSTAT1 and FRSHEGGS, two other maps of mine. Ciao!
