A canyon styled map.
Areas range from a river flowing through a gorge and into a cave system, caves and caverns, cliffs with rock outcropping for jumping on, underwater pools and tunnels, a temple pyramid like structure, and an alien hive.
Architecture is decent enough for the type of map it is, but this style also lends to minimal detailing.
The texture selection is quite limited and the shading in the outdoor areas is very weak. There is some strong shading in the inside areas and some usage of lighting effects which give the atmosphere some boost.
There are also some ambient sounds, but more could have been used to build up tension at key areas.
The layout consists of the river gorge and the large pool with a raft circling around it as the main hub area with several caves and underwater tunnels branching off then looping back in at different locations or cracks in walls that lead to earlier visited areas.

Game play is a key card hunt. The keys and locks are in the open, but spread along the main section of the map, so it's on the player to remember where they are located.
The level isn't too big which makes going back to find the locks fairly easy.
The challenge in the level is the combat. Due to the openness of the layout the player can go pretty much where they please.
Health items are all over the place so no issues there, but the weaponry is spread out all over. This can lead the player into some pretty tough fights without having acquired a decent gun to fight back. In addition there is quite a heavy dose of respawns in most major junctions so the player can get swarmed before they know it.
There is a wide selection of firearms and plenty of ammo, but you need to find them first.
Once the player is armed and the battles are easier to manage the game is very balanced.
