Title: HENGESIX.MAP Author: Robbie Langton E-mail: Robbie@roblang.demon.co.uk Web Page: www.roblang.demon.co.uk/dukesolo/index.html Description: In this mission, Duke, you come up against Alien Mysticism. You will be transported to the heart of the evil intruders' religious centre, which is a group of five ancient stone circles, plus a brick built replica of one of them that got destroyed during a particularly rampant bacchanal. Each henge is devoted to the use of one of the warrior castes, and heavily guarded. Your duty, as if you couldn't guess, is to kill all the aliens and stay as alive as possible..... The level contains the usual assembly of aliens, some quite complex puzzles, some secret areas and interestingly atmospheric locations. Look out for the poisoned fountain. Be careful in the Lizard Lab. - experiments can involve life-threatening components. You'll know when you've finished - there's a Big Boss at the end. Remember: "He who saves a lot in play, lives to fight another day!" Additional Credits: I would like to thank Adam Richards for his suggestions, criticisms and many, many hours of test playing. I must also give thanks to Brett Gmoser for his excellent FAQ, which has opened up Duke editing's mysteries for so many people. I have reformatted his text into a Word DOC, which I am prepared to send out to anyone who requests it. It really is a most outstanding piece of work, for which we must all be grateful to him. *Play Information* Single Player: yes - that is what it was designed for exclusively DukeMatch Level: no - there are plenty of levels for that Co-operative: no - sorry - you are on your own Difficulty Settings: not implemented *Construction* Base: A new level from scratch. Editor: Build, warts and all! Actually I find it works pretty well once you have got to grips with its intricacies and oddities. The main thing is to save and backup regularly. Known Bugs: Only one known, and it is an odd one. After transporting from the Water Henge area to the Dark Field Henge, you stand on a platform with a button switch in front of you. Pressing this makes the ground rise up in front of you out of the depths. Once in while, though, the ground has already risen. There is no obvious reason why this should be the case. It's all been done by the book. Fault may be in the Duke game engine. As it happens properly most of the time, and is a rather pretty effect, I have left it in. There are no new graphics or sounds in this level. It was created on the Atomic Pack version, but should play fine on the "original" version - as far as I know, I didn't use any of the "new" textures or sprites.
