An underground military base with a few adjoining cave systems.
Initially the level is pretty plain, un-shaded, and under detailed, but the quality picks up after the first elevator ride. It's still a bit under detailed, but the architecture gets more pronounced and interesting, and the shading contrasts are very strong to make up for an otherwise empty facility.
The layout is primarily open with a large main corridor acting as the primary hub and a few narrower passages leading off in various directions.

Game play is a switch, a key, and a pipebomb.
Nothing too complicated or confusing about the puzzles. A little observational skill is needed though.
The lack of shading and variations in texturing at the beginning can cause the player to miss the ceiling vent access point needed to get a good shot at some explosive cylinders, and there's a series of caves later in the map located in the upper wall of a storage room that can only be reached by jumping across some structural beams. Other than that, navigating through is a pretty straight forward affair.
Combat is decently balanced and a nice variety and mixing of aliens are encountered along the way. There is a small selection of weapons available to provide a change-up in the fire fights and healing items are strung out thinly at major junctions and locations to keep things challenging.
The last fight to get to the exit is also set up well and can be pretty tough without some quick maneuvering.

Texturing/Lighting-Shading: 9/10
Sprite Work/Detailing: 8/10
Ambiance: 8/10
Architecture: 19/20
Layout: 18/20
Gameplay/Design: 27/30
Overall: 89/100
