An addon episode for WGRealms2
This is a recreation of a Doom episode using the characters, weapons, textures, and enemies utilized with William Gee's mod. There are two versions available; either the polymer lighting redux version or the classic version which can be played in any video mode the gamer wants to use.
This creation is an excellent reproduction and is great if you need a nice Doom fix ala Duke Nukem 3D style. If you're familiar with the original game you'll be quite pleased at the accuracy and feel of these levels.
The texturing and construction match up well with the gloomy dungeon and castle-esque design and if you choose to use the polymer lighting, the effect really makes the atmosphere standout that much more.
The levels start out in simple linear paths with basic weapons getting dealt out at a slow pace. A couple enemies here, a couple there, and a hand full of health vials and armor shards are spread around. As the episode progresses the levels become more maze like and complex in their layout, stronger firepower is given to the player, and the adversaries appear in more numerous clusters and are quite a bit more formidable.
Healing vials and armor shards are swapped out for full suits of armor and larger potions of health juice. Finding the many stashes and side areas also give a boost to the player's stat and ammo count.
At the end it's obvious the player is in for a big throw down with all the supplies tossed around, but don't think it's going to be a simple stand back and launch rockets affair. It's pretty tough and you better be looking over your shoulder and quick on your feet if you want to walk out unscathed.
The only thing this episode really needs for the complete Doom experience are the missing original demons and monsters.
The WGR2 foes are a decent fit though and the player's weaponry, items, and game mechanics like the POW system are designed to match them.
