A jungle and cavern styled map made up primarily of two forested canyons divided by a cave system.
The level is pretty dark and gloomy with the atmosphere being established by sound effects and random fires scattered around to throw off light.
It's pretty well detailed with a good amount of rock outcroppings, stairways and ramparts, trees, scummy ponds, and some other man-made structures such as a small camp of tents, a partially destroyed semi-truck, and Duke's shot down aircraft.
The environment is also fairly dynamic with quite a few explosions and other effects like the ebbing pool of water.
Getting through is linear though the cave system is open with several interconnecting tunnels that usually lead to the same place, but it gives the player the option on which path to choose.

Game play is primarily switch oriented.
There are keys, but those aren't necessary in order to complete the level. The only navigational challenge is finding newly opened portals after activating a switch because it's overall dimly lit. It's not too bad since the map is short and the doors are relatively close to the activators.
The only transition that seemed out of place was the use of a teleport pad; in a nice non-tech environment this seemed a bit odd.
The challenge of the level comes in the form of the combat situations and getting caught in some of the explosions. Seemingly random locations will either burn some skin off the player's nose with fireballs or drop a raging horde of aliens all around them. In some cases, both.
Even though there's a fair spread of available weapons, ammunition can get stingy, and healing items are scattered pretty thin for most of the first portions of the map. Use the given firepower wisely; getting caught in tight quarters with nothing but explosive weapons doesn't help Duke's situation any.
