Review by Forge
Duke is sent to investigate the planet Acheron and find out what really happened. Based on the movie Aliens.
A medium sized map with a simple layout and design. There's plenty of effects: explosions, sound and lighting, used to create the atmosphere which are enhanced with some good shading and texturing. The sprite work and detailing are a bit lacking and there are a couple of decent architectural structures, but nothing to write home about.
Game play can be difficult unless you're quick on your feet. You start out by exploring around a bit collecting a few weapons and some ammunition; everything seems quiet enough just looking around for that hidden switch to open a door. You'll know you found it when you find yourself suddenly your surrounded by several spawned newbeasts. This happens several time throughout the map and not always in the most easiest of places to wage combat. The premise of the map is to simply navigate from one end to the other and survive, which is no mean task.
