================================Author Info=================================== Title : MARATHON.MAP (* Marathon *) Author : Charlie Wiederhold - Maintainer of WiederWeb Co-founder of www.maximum-carnage.com Programmer/Level Designer - Sunstorm Interactive Nick on IRC : RipFan or WiederWeb Email Address : wieder@cs.utexas.edu Description : Quite possibly, the most gloomy, dreary, depressing DM level ever created. I promise, that if you walk around in it alone, you will feel isolated, alone, and slightly intimidated by the structures. But, add a bit of death and destruction of DM, and you have the perfect setting for play! Not really much of a place or location, but more of the perfect arena for DM, for any number of people. Although, 2-4 is the suggested size. Pay close attention to where you are going, and you will discover some pretty nifty sector stacking, giving the feel of true 3D in the design. Files included : MARATHON.MAP - The level to play MARATHON.TXT - This authorship file Additional Credits to : Robert Travis, for being a good friend/co-worker, and in the process teaching me the "little" things about level design that make a "big" difference. Peter, Peter, Danny, and everyone else that helped me test it, and had to put up with me saying that this was the best damn DM level ever created. ;^) Other levels I've made : PNTBALL.MAP (Paint Ball) The original that is now a classic! PNTBALL2.MAP (Paint Ball - The Return) A super cleaned up version of PNTBALL, with some nice effects added. Entered into the TEN level design contest, making the semi-finals. RODEO1.MAP (The Rodeo Shootout #1) I was contracted to design a DM level that was specifically created to accomodate 8 players, for the Duke Nukem 3D Rodeo Shootout tournament that was held in Fort Worth, TX during the summer of 1996. RODEO2.MAP (The Rodeo Shootout #2) A cleaned up version of the original, with more attention to detail and better framerate. HOOKEM.MAP (Hook'em!) This bizarre little map is kind of one of those levels that you either love or you hate. There is no middle ground. Up until this level, I was still... amaturish in my design. This was the first level that started to have a professional feel and look to it. It has an extremely high learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it is a blast. WHRHOUSE.MAP (The Secret Government Wharehouse) This is not available for public use. It is the secret level on the Duke It Out In D.C. add-on pack developed by Sunstorm Interactive. I was the programmer on this project, and was asked to do one of the levels for it. This was my first ever single player levels, but it is by far my most professional work. But Duke It Out In D.C. and you will get to play it, along with the rest of the episode, in which Robert Travis was the senior level designer, doing 8 out of the other 9 levels in the add-on. ============================================================================== ** Play Information ** Level # : User Map Single Player : No Cooperative 2-8 Player : No Dukematch 2-8 Player : Perfect Difficulty Settings : No Monsters : No New Graphics : No New Music : No New Sound FX : No Demos Replaced : None ** Build Information ** Base : From scratch Build time : Around 5 hours Editors used : BUILD.EXE Known Bugs : None known.
