A church castle styled map.
There is a minor outdoor area, but most of the map takes place inside dungeon like corridors and rooms, a few underwater passageways, below ground caverns, and a large cathedral type room.
The initial impression is medieval, but there is a mix of modern to high tech. Several of the hallways are a bit narrow and winding, but engagements in these areas are limited to minor scuffles. Some rooms are quite lofty and very open, while the smaller rooms still allow for freedom of movement.
The layout is non-linear and the player may roam where they wish through the multiple corridors which all eventually lead to the main chamber that acts as the hub to the monastery.

Game play is a key card hunt.
The keys and locks are hidden, but finding one and then finding its counterpart in the maze of corridors can be a little confusing. There's also a small trap that needs some figuring out to escape from, but nothing too frustrating.
The map is balanced in regards to combat; weapons and health are limited and are in proportion to the types of aliens engaged and the frequency and numbers encountered at any given time.
