Duke is dumped off on an alien space station. Kill everything and go home. The level is well designed and constructed for the most part. The map is split in half with one side basically a mirror image of the other. This is great for navigation because you'll know exactly how the unexplored area will look, but it feels a little cheap. Plenty of lighting effects, weird texture combinations, and architectural features provide for a very alien atmosphere. Heavy sprite work allows for a more complex layout, but the downside is the baddies can clip through it and shoot up your boots. Detailing, prominent trimwork, and plenty of view ports give the map depth and enhance the ambiance.

Game play is mainly based on switch puzzles. There is quite a variety of enemies and several weapons available to engage them. Health is slung around all over the map which is good because ammunition is rare and you may need the all the healing you can get if you find yourself without any means to defend yourself. Most areas are open enough to make the fire fights fair with the exception of afore mentioned sprite floors allowing the aliens to shoot you without any means of retaliation.

    Texturing/Lighting-Shading: 10/10
    Sprite Work/Detailing: 10/10
    Ambiance: 10/10
    Architecture: 19/20
    Layout: 18/20
    Gameplay/Design: 25/30
    Overall: 92/100
